Welcome to iExpertAdvisor.  This site is about helping you learn about FOREX Trading Systems.  Especially mechanical trading systems - and especially on the MetaTrader platform.  Are we associated with MetaTrader in any way? Nope.   Are we associated with any MetaTrader brokers? Nope. 

We like MetaTrader because the platform is free and relatively easy to use.  If you have ever had any chance of building and running an automatic trading system, this has got to be it!  Again, the platform is free, and almost every broker offers a demo account.  This means, with no cost (accept your time), you can build, run and test your own automated trading system.  This is truly a fantastic opportunity!

Now the only thing standing between you and a profitable trading system is your willingness to learn and to work.  Is building a profitable system easy? No way! But with determination - and a few clever ideas - it can be done.

The first step to building these mechanical trading systems, called "Expert Advisors", requires a good working knowledge of the MetaTrader platform.  This is best done by installing the platform and playing around with it.  Slowly you will become familiar with the platform and become comfortable with all of the options.

Currently, there two versions of MetaTrader available: 3.8 and 4.0.  The 3.8 version supports a language that is pretty simple and easy to learn; it has been used for quite a while, and as a result, most of the bugs have been resolved.  The 4.0 version is much more powerful than 3.8, but of course the language is more complex; the language is very similar to the "C" programming language. Since 4.0 is relatively new, bugs are still being found.  However, it won't be long before version 4.0 is as stable, or even more stable than version 3.8.

It is important to remember that MetaTrader is just a tool - a tool to be used on the FOREX market.  Becoming proficient with this tool will not guarantee success.  Using this tool is and should be trivial.  The real value is in developing ideas that give you an edge in the FX market.  This being said, the more proficient you are with the tools, the faster you can evaluate your ideas (and throw out the bad ones!)

If you have not done so yet, download the MetaTrader platform and documentation. Spend some time learning about the platform.  Then spend some time thinking about how you can create a system that gives you an edge in the market.  We will try to provide the tools, along with information and our own ideas, to help you along.
